Tata to Offer Nexon with 6-Speed AMT Unit

If the media report can be believed, Tata Nexon diesel variant will get a 6-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) unit. Yet to launch, the car was first debuted at the 2014 Auto Expo and followed by the 2016 event. Once released, it will go up against cars of its segment like Mahindra TUV 300, Ford EcoSport as well as recently introduced Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Mahindra NuvoSport.

If we talk about the diesel motor specification, it includes a 1.5-litre Revotron unit, which is good for 110 PS and 260 Nm of torque. Now, the transmission duties will be carried out by this new AMT option. Besides, the compact SUV has also a choice of 1.2-litre Revotron petrol trim that is mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox as of now and expected to be offered with AMT in future.

Talking about the design and features, Tata's first sub-4 compact SUV will have the piano black front grille, LED tail lights, shark-fin antenna, ceramic side finish, 16-inch alloy wheels, etc. To catch more eyeballs, the carmaker can furnish the dashboard with an advanced infotainment system, comfort upholstery and many other facilities.

With information available, Tata Motors is in a mood to launch this car sometimes in next year, before the company's Kite 5 sedan. The price has also been not revealed, it could lie between INR 6.0 Lakhs to INR 9.5 Lakhs (Ex-showroom).
