Tork Raised Funds to reveal India's First Electric Bike This year

Tork Motorcycles, a Pune based startup recently raised an angel funding of undisclosed amount from a number of investors. A group of investors led by Mr.Bhavish Aggarwal and Ankit Bhati, co-founders of Ola Cabs and another one led by CoCubes CEO Harpreet Grover, who gave all the raised amount to the Tork Motorcycles. The raised amount will help up to boost the development of startup’s maiden project, India's first electric bike which will be called T6X. The T6X, probably be unveiled by the end of this year.

As per the reports, a big part of the funding will be utilized to setup the manufacturing unit in Pune and remaining may be used to install charging units in the metro cities like Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi or Gurugram. Basically, Tork T6X may run approx 100Km on a single charge as per the company’s mileage stats. Moreover, it will also be featured with GPS, phone charging, and cloud connectivity. The display on the instrument panel will give the information of the nearest charging point of the motorcycle via GPS and cloud connectivity.

Mr. Kapil Shelke, graduated from DY Patil College of Engineering launched the startup in 2010. That time, the company works for the electric motor racing circuit before step in the B2C space. The T6X is not the company’s first offering, Tork has also represented India at various international events since 2007, like Snetterton(the UK) and the Isle of Man TT. Beside this, Tork has also dabbled in, to modify a Yamaha FZ into a retrofitted motorcycle powered by electric motor, but failed to attract the audience in the Indian market.

Though, The T6X will be brought up from the scratch as a new product. And the first prototype of Tork T6X is in final stage that will be ready by the end of this year. While the production is likely to start in the first quarter of next year.
