Toyota Develops New Engine for Mighty Land Cruiser

Toyota is making all sorts of plan for its might Land Cruiser and after informing about its facelift model, which is due in some time, it has now announced a new engine to replace the current 3.0 Litre engine. The 3 and 5-Door version of the SUV will get this all new 2.8 Litre D-4D engine and the company is saying that it would be delivering more torque, lower fuel consumption and will emit less carbon. Also, the drive-ability of the SUV will also improve.

Detailing the engine specifications, this 2.8 Litre 16 Valve DOHC diesel powerhouse produces 174 bhp power and 420 Nm torque @ 1400-2000 rpm. The new 6-speed automatic transmission system in it offers a bit of more extra torque, that is additional 30 Nm between 1600 rpm and 2400 rpm. This 6-speed AT unit will replace its 5-speed AT unit. Mentioning other details, the new engine would be emitting 9 percent less carbon that the current one.

Well, the changes are definitely good and it wold surely improve the value of Land Cruiser this is what the company is expecting. As far as the launch is concerned, the new engine would be available in some parts of Europe by July this year.
