Toyota Fortuner Rumoured to be Launched in India by Diwali

Displayed by the side of Innova Crysta at earlier concluded 2016 Auto Expo, the next generation Toyota Fortuner is likely to be launched in India by Diwali. Well, nothing has been officially revealed yet, it's just based on some supportive media reports. Meanwhile, the carmaker is all set to bring out the 2016 Innova Crysta in the Indian car market tomorrow.  

Wider and longer than the earlier one, the new Fortuner is already available on the other global market namely, Thailand, Australia, and South Africa. In addition, the company has also downsized its height by 15 mm, while the wheelbase will level off.

Taking a note on the powertrain, it will have two diesel engine options. The specification of the lighter motor comprises a 2.4-litre that generates 149 PS and 343 Nm of torque while the heavier trim is registered as a 2.8-litre, which is tuned to pump out 174 PS and 360 Nm of torque.

For transmission, a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic unit on the spec list. Furthermore, all wheel drive mode will also come as an option on the high-end variant. Some other features are listed as 18-inch alloy wheels, LED head lights, A-TRC traction control system and LED daytime running lights.

For safety equipment, it will get 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, downhill assist control, Traction control, hill start assists, reversing camera with parking sensors, and tractor sway control. Anyways, to handle the Supreme Court's order in Delhi of banning the diesel engine excess of 2.0-litre, Toyota has already decided to launch a petrol engine option with Innova Crysta and Fortuner. It looks like the company will leave no stone unturned to compete for its rivals. Once arrived, it will take on the market of Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, and Chevrolet Trailblazer.
