Toyota Working Upon Offering Safer Cars at Premium Price Tag

Toyota is reportedly planning to build safer cars in future for the Indian car market. This means that the prices will go up and hence the company would be able to enjoy more profit. It will be introducing important components like ABS and dual airbags as standard across the range. Besides, even the smaller cars will be more fuel efficient as well as will have lesser emissions and advanced safety equipments. Interestingly, a similar kind of strategy has been adopted by Maruti Suzuki owing to which, it has started offering airbags as standard facility even in the base spec models.

The Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar, Mr Naomi Ishii, was reportedly quoted as saying, “In case we introduce a smaller car, it should have very advanced features in safety, fuel efficiency and exhaust emissions. The price might be higher, but we can show this is the direction.”

This vehicle will be rolled out as a premium MUV as opposed to the previous version. Toyota plans to manufacture 90,000 units of the Innova per annum that translates to 7,500 units per month. This figure is approximately 45% more than the current production.
