Triumph Speed Twin Spied Testing in Europe

With an aim to enlarge its product line-up in the Bonneville range of modern classic, popular British venture-Triumph Motorcycles might add a street-fighter model soon. From the surfaced spy images, perceiving to be inspired from The Thruxton, the spotted road runner is likely to be entitled to the name, the Speed Twin. A few days ago, the test mule has been captured on camera while performing its test rounds in Europe.

As the reports suggest, the brand name, Speed Twin is an iconic moniker, because it had been used for the 1950s and 1960s road bikes of the giant. However, this next gen interpretation will get a 1200cc ‘high power’ propelling unit, which is said to spit out a maximum power output of 112Nm.

If now go through the assembled cycle parts, the spied Street Twin shares components from the high-end Thruxton R variant, which includes the double cradle chassis, an upswept exhaust system, Ohlins suspension setup along with Brembo braking units.

Visually, the only witnessed difference between the Thruxton models and the Speed Twin is the styling. The noteworthy features are the embellishment of the twin-eye headlamp from the outdated Speed Triple and the revised riding position owing to the fitments of a tall handlebar and the revamped seating. Furthermore, it also receives a set of alloy wheels as a replacement of spoke wheels on the Thruxton R.

In the Indian market, the Triumph Speed Twin is likely to be pitted against the likes of the BMW S 1000R, Aprilia Tuono 1100 V4 and the Ducati Monster 1200. It will be debuted as the 2018 year model next year and will be available for sale at the dealership by the 2017 end.
