The safety net of Anti Lock Braking System (ABS) that will be compulsory from forthcoming April 1, 2019, has been updated to entire sub-200cc Apache RTR range from TVS Motors. The equipped unit to motorcycles including the Apache RTR 160, Apache RTR 160 4V and Apache RTR 180, is a single channel ABS unit that is being called as ‘Super Moto’ ABS from the manufacturer. However, technically, it is not the same Supermoto ABS mode offered in the large-capacity street bikes. Since it facilitates with the option of switching off rear wheel ABS. while with the TVS Motor’s Super Moto ABS, one won't get the aids of switching off the rear wheel ABS.

TVS Apache RTR 160 which was being expected to end its journey soon in Indian two-wheeler market, gets a new lease of life with refreshed aesthetic updates, new seats and new handlebar end weights to reduced vibrations. Available in rear drum and rear disc versions with single-channel ABS, the new RTR 160 attracts the respective pricing of INR 85,510 and INR 88,339. Both are ex-showroom, Delhi prices. As against to non-ABS versions, the Super Moto ABS equipped Apache RTR 160 is costlier by INR 6140 and INR 6640 respectively.

The Apache RTR 160 4V which offers three trims, the Apache RTR 160 Fi ABS, RTR 160 carb with rear disc and RTR 160 carb with rear drum seek a premium of INR 6,640 over their non-ABS iterations. While the Apache RTR 180 bike which was already available with dual-channel ABS, now with a demotion gets a single channel ABS unit. It makes the bike pricing accessible over the earlier version by INR 3,408.

The top spec model in the Apache RTR series, the Apache RTR 200 4V bikes had earlier witnessed the fitment of ABS for one of its variant. Another trim the RTR 200 carb with rear disc is available with the same old dual channel ABS unit. While the remaining two the FI and Carb with rear drum brake variants until now don't get this cutting edge technology for improved and precise braking. Somewhere, it hints the elimination of these latterly mentioned variants in the coming future.
