UM to Start Bookings for Renegade Classic in March 2017; to be dispatched in April

UM Motorcycles next product in the queue- the Renegade Classic will be added to the line-up in 2017. The American two-wheeler manufacturer has announced the time frame for the arrival of the third flagship model in India. During a conference in Mumbai, the Director of the company, Rajeev Mishra and the Business Development Director, Juan Villegas, has confirmed the journalists about the initiation of bookings for the bike in March next year with deliveries to be done in April.

While getting the same mechanicals as the rest of the Renegade range, the new bike will be armed with a fuel-injection setup that will make it compliant with the emission norms. At the bygone days of 2016 Auto Expo, the Renegade Classic was unveiled as a swanky retro cruiser. Sharing components from the Renegade Commando and the Renegade Sport S, the fresh machine in the series is fairly modish with a windscreen and various chrome bits here and there.

Propelling responsibilities are dominated by a 279.5cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that sprint the bike at 24.8BHP of power at 8500 RPM and 21.8NM of torque at 7000 RPM. Mated to a six-speed transmission unit, the Renegade Classic will benefit from a fuel injected unit replacing the so-called carburetor engine.

Though the variant showcased at the Expo wasn’t the one featuring a fuel-injected system, but it will certainly incorporate the same owing to the emission norms. Besides this, an ABS system might be armed as a standard fitment along with a rear disc brake option. In order to customize the bike according to the owner’s requirement, the company has provided an exhaustive accessory list with the Renegade Classic.

When asked about the price, the folks have remained tight-lipped, however, expect the tag to be a more extravagant than the Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S due to the addition of disc brakes, fuel-injection, and ABS. Concerning the production details, all the motorcycles will be manufactured at the Lohia Auto plant in Uttrakhand. With around 80 percent localisation, the company can set a competitive price tag as compared to the RE models.
