Upcoming Honda CR-V and Accord Platform To be Based on 2016 Honda Civic

Honda President and CEO, Takahiro Hachigo has confirmed that the upcoming Honda CR-V and Honda Accord will be manufactured on the platform of 2016 Honda Civic. Moreover, the new upcoming selected models will feature Honda’s latest set of Turbo VTEC engines. Mr Hachigo also revealed that top features of the new Civic will be transferred to other prominent global models.

Presently, no further technical details about the next generation CR-V and Accord have been revealed but according to the announcement, it’s clear to get downsized turbo engine installed under a new platform based vehicle. However, the Honda president teased some fresh images of the two models during the press conference. It is likely to get expensive, if incorporated with Honda’s generation next features.

2016 Honda Civic

If the engine gets modified and downsized, then the models could get the 1.5-liter Turbo VTEC from the Honda Civic, which churns out a power output of 174 hp at 5,500 rpm and 220 Nm of peak torque. Another engine can be the downsized version of the 2.0-liter Turbo VTEC, which is incorporated into the Honda Civic Type R, delivers maximum power output of 230 hp.
