Volkswagen, the well known German car manufacturing company has announced to deliver the petrol variants of the new Volkswagen Ameo compact sedan in India. It is the first sub-4 meter sedan of the company. Volkswagen will deliver only the petrol variants of the new model, the diesel variants are expected to be launched during the festive season in October.
The new Volkswagen Ameo is powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder MPI engine which is capable of developing the power of 75 PS and 110 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. According to ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) the fuel consumption of Ameo petrol is 17.83 km/l.

Meanwhile, the diesel variant of the model was spotted testing near pune city, Maharashtra which is expected to be launched in the festive season. This variant of Ameo will have the 1.5-liter four-cylinder TDI diesel engine with a new turbocharging technique. VW India confirmed that engine will be capable of delivering the power output of 108 PS,which will be paired with 5-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic transmissions.
All the variants of the Volkswagen Ameo will be loaded with ABS and dual front Airbags as standard. The top model variants of the sedan will have alloy wheels, cornering lights, automatic wipers, automatic dimming interior rear-view mirror, a touchscreen MirrorLink infotainment system with rear parking camera, Bluetooth, steering-mounted controls, cruise control and power-folding wing mirrors.
