Volkswagen Unveils Latest Jeep Compass Competitor In China

Volkswagen has introduced the new midsize SUV in China lately. It is co-developed by the SAIC which is the largest automaker of China, Chinese subsidiary, and partner of Volkswagen. This midsize SUV will be first in a line offering China-produced vehicles globally.

SAIC-Volkswagen has not decided the name of the new SUV yet but the near-production prototype of the company is being called as Powerful Family SUV.

Volkswagen has just revealed the detailing about the exterior concerning new updates, although the interior and technical information are not showcased yet by the company. Manufactured on the VW Group’s MQB (Modularer Quer Baukasten also known as Modular Transverse Matrix) platform, it looks similar like sharing the details with many vehicles in the VW Group as with Kodiaq, Skoda Octavia, Skoda Karoq, VW Tiguan, Audi A3 and Volkswagen Passat. It is likely to be similar to the Skoda Karoq in measurement and it is also a mid-size SUV and will compete the Jeep Compass internationally, including India as well.

The new Volkswagen SUV appears as a Volkswagen’s full-size SUV, a miniature version, the Atlas/Teramont, which is available in USA (Atlas) and China (Teramont). In China, the Teramont is as well developed by SAIC-Volkswagen. Concerning front of the SUV, it features a wide grille, full-LED headlamps, and an upright stance. Apparently, it appears that the SUV is wider than the actual. There is a sharp and apparent looking character line running from the headlamps to the tail lamps.

The SUV rides on dual-tone machined wheels on 225/50 cross-section 18-inch tyres. At the back side, the boxy theme goes further similar to the Atlas/Teramont.
The unnamed upcoming SUV features dual-tone bumper, faux skid plate, a subtle integrated spoiler, split wrap-around LED tail lamps, and twin exhaust tips.
