Volkswagen’s Electric Race Car Premiere On April 22

The Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak will debut on April 22 at a racetrack in Alès, France. It will be the first-ever fully-electric race car by the company and will take part in Pikes Peak challenge, annual American hill climb race in June 2018.

This time the company is ready to electrify the buyers with the start of new era in motorsport. The I.D. R Pikes Peak with the debut in public on 22 April will be the first fully electric racing car from the Volkswagen. Till now, the computer sketches have worked well for the first impression of the summiteer concerning the hill club in the world. New finished prototype holds aerodynamic perfection, lightweight construction, powerful electric engine and exciting design.

It covers 19.99 kilometres and 1,440 metres in altitude in just 9 minutes. The condition is no crash barriers and steep slopes up to some hundred metres. The recent event at Pikes Peak is named as the “Race to the Clouds” which begins from 2,862 metres and reaches 4,302 metres considering above sea level.

From 100+ years, this hill climb has been quite interesting in the world of motor racing. The company participated in 1987 with an iconic twin-engine Golf.

Now, the target of the company to create a new record with electric cars. We can see the excitement of the record in the car as Volkswagen R has rendered its name to the car for future reference. The knowledge in climbing the Pikes Peak International Hill Project will be attached to the development of performance-optimized electric cars at R GmbH in future.
