World's Fastest Electric Superbike, Lightning LS-218 Ready to Hit the Road

The Lightning LS-218, which is claimed to be the fastest electric-powered superbike, is all set to hit the tarmac, as the bike maker, Lightning Motorcycles is going to take this under development motorcycle on test runs from Los Angeles to San Francisco. The testing process will start in late summers and it is plausible that the motorcycle will cover the distance of 644 km on a single charge. Four years back in time, the same brand was in headlines for being the fastest ever electric bike with a top speed record of 350 Kmph. once again, if things go as per the bike maker, the mentioned earlier record is likely to be smashed in the coming months.

There is a little delay in between, Lightning Motorcycles to tagged with the fastest electric bikes producer title and the new top speed record will make by them, is just the time to develop required battery. For which, Mr. Richard Hatfield, CEO of Lightning Motorcycles has already shake hand with the Indiana Battery innovation Center, for needed battery manufacturing.

Not just that, both the mentioned partners want to see the project in production stage and not just staying in the research phase. Moreover, the Lightning Motorcycles also has the credit of transforming a Yamaha R1 into a battery-powered motorcycle, 10 years ago.

LS-218, the fastest electric production bike, which has the top speed record in the category, can be purchased at $38,888, which will cost you around Rs 25.12 lakh in Indian currency after conversion, without taxes and export duties. It is a full-fledged motorcycle with exciting performance spec.

Today, riders are much aware of protecting the environment and in future, it will clearly tend the auto majors to introduce electric motorcycles in the motoring world. And so do, the Lightning Motorcycles is planning, to launch a more affordable version of the LS-218 at $20,000 soon. Further, they will think over to increase electric motorcycles production significantly to overtake conventional bikes in the near future.
