Kindle has bought their e-book readers to India which could behave as a good companion on the go and at home. This dedicated product has been design to serve the purpose of an ultimate gadget which can be used to read books as if they are real. Such products are new for the country and could rise here as well, but a product which can only be used to read books worth around Rs. 11,000 make any sense! In the world of cheap laptops and tablets, a dedicated product like e-book reader may receive a number of fluctuations to survive but this is also true that specialist are always called for better concentration over the subject. It would be a challenge for Kindle to perform here.
Amazon Kindle has launched their Paperwhite e-book readers in India which costs around Rs. 11,000 to Rs. 14,000. These are available at various superstores including Reliance digital, Vijay Sales, Croma and E-zone. The total number of outlets across the country is 250. Amazon e-book readers is available in two variants including Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite 3G. They are priced at Rs. 10,999 and Rs. 13,999 respectively. Both the e-book readers are pure book readers and allow a number of functions to perform during operation.
Kindle Paperwhite is a WIFI version which allows user to access e-books kept over the air using WIFI connectivity. Kindle Paperwhite 3G is a WIFI + 3G version which can perform operations using these functions to fetch books from the internet. Amazon has included a new function named Goodreads which can be used to share highlights, reading friend’s books, rate other books etc with the help of application. Kindle Paperwhite 3G is an updated version of Kindle Paperwhite which has better processor, better built in light, higher contrast, better touch sensitivity, etc.
These e-book readers come with some other innovative features also. Vocabulary builder is a function which collects the words which user had searched before and arrange them in a format which later can be used as quiz like a flashcard game. This will help in memorizing word and increasing the knowledge regarding the same. Smart lookup is an integrated dictionary which can be used to check words, phrases, characters, definitions on Wikipedia. Kindle Free time is another good app which works under parental control for children for accessing books and content.
