Are Indians addicted to WhatsApp or love the app?

WhatsApp is the most popular app, used by Indians including many big industrialists. Founder of a well-known digital marketing firm Pinstorm, Mahesh Murthy is also using WhatsApp to plan his parties with his school mates.

"It's a smart chat app to stay in touch with the group," said Murthy. The most popular application in India is WhatsApp. Everyone from youth to old is joining WhatsApp, leaving behind the traditional system of messaging. So after owning WhatsApp, Facebook can get a big advantage.

It is found by a survey that 55% of mobile messaging users using WhatsApp. It is also reported that WhatsApp's monthly active users in India are around 36 million, comparative to 15 millions of Hike and 16 millions of Line messengers. Indian users are also using some other apps like WeChat, Rocketalk, Gupshup messenger but these are not so popular. WeChat says that after WhatsApp, it is the most downloaded app in the country.

WhatsApp is available without any cost and it is cheaper than SMS. WhatsApp syncs phone contacts automatically; this feature is not available in Blackberry or Hike. We can make groups and do group chatting with attractive emoticons which doesn’t need any pay. The most interesting thing is that we can share images, audios, videos with number of groups and we can trust over WhatsApp that our data is safe and secured. It’s very user friendly to connect with friends and to do official work in fraction of seconds.
