Raksha Bandhan, popularly known as Rakhi is one of the most important festivals in India. It reflects the love and care between brothers and sisters. Every year this festival comes in either July or August months according to the full moon day of Hindi month Shravana. On the day of Rakhi, sisters get up early in the morning and after taking bath they wear new dresses and prepare a Rakhi thali. They put akshat, roli, sindur, deepak, sweets and Rakhi in a clean thali for celebration.

After that they put a tilak on the forehead of their brothers and perform aarti with the thali then they tie the sacred thread of Rakhi on their brother's wrists. In return, brothers present a wonderful gift to their sisters and promises to protect them whole life. That's why this festival is known as "Raksha Bandhan" means a "bond of protection".

In the year 2013, Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 21. The Indian government has also announced for free journey for sisters on the day of Rakhsha Bandhan. Different kinds of Rakhies are available in the market by one month ago. Sisters are buying attractive Rakhis for their brothers.
