Panasonic All set To Build Smartphones Under Make In India Initiative

Panasonic India is all set to make smartphones in India only within a span of two years, and it banks on hearty deals to increase incomes far higher than already focused on. At present the Panasonic assembles cellular phones at its Noida unit, at 'semi-knocked-down' level and is hoping to extend the assembling ability to 'completely-knocked-down' level in the following 1-2 years, a senior official of Panasonic said.

Government motivating forces and strategies, for example, Make in India are changing the manufacturing strategy for smartphone makers, Pankaj Rana, Business Head - Mobility Division, Panasonic India told PTI. "Our revenue target has been Rs. 2,500 crores for 2016-17 and we expected to sell three million units, initially. But we hope to exceed that target and sell four million units this year. The revenue should be about Rs. 3,000 crores, instead," he said. Last fiscal, the organization had earned Rs. 1,200 crores income from mobile business and in unit terms, the deals remained at 1.5 million, he added.

India is the centre for Panasonic's mobile business, working as the middle firm for outside business sectors, for example, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the UAE and Oman among others.
