25 Moto Hubs Opened by Motorola in Kolkata

The Lenovo- owned Motorola has recently opened 25 ‘Moto Hubs’, in Kolkata to broaden its offline channels and targeting to cover one-third sales from these hubs.

With the help of these Moto Hubs, users will be able to experience and purchase recently launched Motorola smartphones such as Moto Z2 Force and Moto X4 at one place.

Sudhin Mathur, Managing Director of Motorola Mobility India stated, “Our customer-centric strategy has helped us immensely and we have received an overwhelming response to ‘Moto Hubs’ across the country.” He further added that “With this, we are giving smartphone lovers a fresh retail experience where they can interact and engage with the brand prior to the purchase.”

Additionally, the Motorola is also planning to open 1,000 ‘Moto Hubs’ nearly in 100 cities, as it is the first milestone decided by the company to expand its offline presence. It is assumed that these offline channels would help to grow the sales by 50 percent as of total sales.

Sudhin Mathur, Managing Director of Motorola Mobility India stated that, the company did not provide any deadline and detailed information regarding the opening of 1,000 Moto Hubs.

According to Mathur, “The next level of growth will come from the offline channel and the company does not want to be left out. The 1,000 hubs are our first milestone. He further added that, as per the industry norms, two - third sales is a portion that comes from offline retail channels, “while for us it is just reverse”. “Ideally, I think revenue from offline and e-commerce should be equal,” stated Mathur.

According to German research firm GfK, In the eastern region, 15% of the total smartphone sale comes from offline retail channels. To expand its offline channels, the company had already opened 50 Moto Hubs in Delhi in the month of January this year.

The Lenovo- owned Motorola has already merged with the Poorvika Mobile in 43 cities namely Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karnataka and also with Big C and Lot Mobile Stores in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to offer retail experience to users.

These Moto Hubs will also provide Motorola accessories such as on-ear and in-ear headphones, mobile phone covers and Moto shells.
