French, automobile manufacturer announces a new budget segment smartphone, dubbed as Alcatel 1. It is based on Android Oreo Go Edition and offers stock Android to the users at an affordable price.
It is specifically designed to offer an optimized experience to the users and bundled with Google apps such as Google Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go and among others which take less storage in the smartphone.

The Alcatel 1 has been priced at EUR 79/ $89 which approximately converts into Rs. 6,200. It will be available for purchase from July in select markets, as there is no exact information in which countries and regions the smartphone would available for purchase The company is offering the Alcatel 1 in three color options: Metallic Black, Metallic Blue, and Metallic Gold.
The Alcatel 1 features a 5-inch HD+ FullView display, 18:9 aspect ratio and the screen resolution of 480x960 pixels. Under the hood, the smartphone gets a quad-core MediaTek MT6739 SoC clocked at 1.28GHz coupled with Cortex-A53 CPU. Alcatel 1 Android Oreo Go Edition has 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage with an option to extend further to 32GB by using a microSD card and comes with single- SIM (Nano).
In terms of photography, the Alcatel gets 5-megapixel sensors on the rear panel that can be interpolated to 8-megapixel sensors accompanied by an LED flash and several impressive features such as Social Square, Instant Collage, One-Handed Mode, and Photo Booth. For selfies and video calling, it has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera that can be interpolated to the 5-megapixel camera.
Connectivity options on the Alcatel 1 include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS and a Micro-USB port. Sensors on the smartphone include accelerometer and proximity sensor. It is powered by a 2000mAh battery which can be rated to deliver up to 8 hours of battery back up in single charge. It takes approximately 3 hours and 24 minutes to fully charge the smartphone. The dimensions and weight of Alcatel 1 are 137.6x65.7x9.8mm and 134 grams respectively.
While launching the smartphone the company stated in a press release, “Alcatel 1 with Android Oreo (Go edition) features a set of popular Google apps that run quickly and smoothly, including Google Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go and more. As part of the platform, users will enjoy access to YouTube Go, which lets users download videos and view them offline when data isn't available. The Google Play Store will also suggest third-party apps tailor-made for Go edition devices, including Facebook Lite, Skype Lite and more.”
