Operating systems are known as the selection parameter of a mobile device among customers. Frequent updates and introduction of wonderful features have made them super smooth and responsive. Still, some differences are there which reflects back the user's preference over the OS. Some obvious reasons are friendly nature and appearance. People generally prefer most of the stuff in affordable packaging, which is one of the most deciding perspectives.
1. The story begins....
The story of mobile device operating system market rulers i.e. iOS and Android started around 2007-08. Google launched its first version of Android operating system. Simultaneously, iOS manufacturer Apple also introduced its product. The features and platform of these two were completely different from one another. The main feature which was differentiating both of them was customization.
Android is open source software while iOS is not at all open, however it works on few open components. Features which is most talked for android is the availability of FREE Apps which iOS doesn't offer to an extent. On the other hand, iOS is shining with its ultra smart security features as it is an Apple product and it is being used by their own products only while Android is a google product and it is used by many smart gadget manufacturers like Sony, Samsung, HTC, Nexus, Motorola etc.
2. Why Android scores high in user satisfaction?
In today's scenario of smartphones and gadgets, android has captured a total share of around 70% while iOS is definite upto 25%, the rest is shared by others. The main reason behind this is the affordability and customize ability of Android. IOS is too secured that it won't allow to even transfer a document via bluetooth or any other casual means. Android being open source, has the advantage of serving low cost handsets. iOS on the other hand, has a good amount in pricing because of the quality and refinement it provides.
Android has great ability of pulling audience. The multitasking is great and smooth but it doesn't make you feel what iOS offers. The ingenious and clean word is that, Android users will feel good with it and won't switch over iOS and vice versa.
A survey in general public reveals that android is the most preferred operating system because of various great features which lets user feel high while using. Few of them are listed here.
a) Choices - This feature is available only with Android out of the two. Android user can have various options to choose from. A number of extremely well established brands are there which serve this industry with their high on hardware and software features. iOS doesn't have this privilege as it is limited to iPhone, iPad, Mac PC and iPads. Increased number of brands in Android raises competition and this competition boost the standard of features and number of equipments in the device. Hence this produces growth and feature rich gadgets for future ready scenario.
b) Customization - This is the best feature of Android. It allows user to manage their device with best decorations in the form of themes. It can be customized for storing different apps in different folder so that no one can access your personal data. Many other characteristics are also available for customizing Android.
c) Data sharing - This is one of the best features which iOS doesn't have much. This feature lets user share anything with others. It can be of any file type. A lot of applications are available in Android for sharing including mail, facebook, whatsapp, line, we chat, bluetooth etc. User has complete freedom of sharing their stuff. On the obverse end, iOS hardly serves any such service. Few services for data sharing are text, flicker, mails, facebook etc. This brings frustration to the user.
d) Google Now - Google Now is the voice command application which enables user to tackle the phone's tasks very efficiently. Everyone knows that Google is the best search engine and it obviously supports its OS platform. Apple's Siri, on the other hand, performs all such tasks with the help of Microsoft's bing search. This gives another hike to Android over iOS.
e) Customized home screen lock-Unlock - This feature is to manage the default application next to lock screen. User can directly access their favourite app by unlocking the home screen. Android provides the option of dragging the unlocking touch button on various different apps installed in the device.
f) Connecting physically with PC - Syncing data from personal computer is a kind of headache in iOS as it requires iTunes for every data transfer operation. This doesn't happen with Android as it is very easy for it. User need to reach the desired folder or file as if they are using an external memory device and they can do any kind of changes with that. This is independent of file format in Android while iOS requires different softwares for that.
g) 3rd Party softwares - Android offers various third party softwares which is not there in iOS. One of the most fantastic feature is its keyboard. IOS has the limitation over the keyboard functionalities, while Android provides various different keyboards for their devices and they work very efficiently.
So many good things are lying in Android. But someone has said that nothing is perfect. Android has lots of drawbacks which sparks strong picking potential towards iOS. Some of them are listed here.
a) iOS is fast and smooth - iOS is way faster than Android. Android OS has so much to offer but it lacks refinement. This makes the device laggy and user fed up after some time. The advanced feature of OS starts fading once the device begins hanging over certain task.
b) Security at its best - Apple iOS provides one of the best security to the data stored in one's device. This is because of the rigid coding and programming made behind the machine which confers peace of mind. Public is crazy about the way Apple build this phone.
With several good things available with the Android, the iOS is still one of the best contender concerning security and performance, while Android provides best in the range equipments and offers great value for money. It completely depends upon the requirements and greed about the device.
