Gaming Powerhouse Black Shark 2 With SD 855 SoC and Upto 12GB RAM on Sale in China

Mind crackling news coming up for the mobile gaming community!!! Xiaomi has recently launched its new gaming-centric smartphone called Black Shark 2 in China. Apparently, the new device is an upgrade from the last year launched Black Shark phone by Xiaomi, which was also praised critically by the mobile gamers due to its powerful specs.

The newer version, Black Shark 2.0 is no different as it comes with the 2019 Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 SoC along with the Snapdragon Elite Gaming graphics processing technology. Liquid-Cooling technology 3.0 has also debuted on the new Black Shark 2 touted to reduce the overheat in smartphones while gaming.

As claimed by the company, the proprietary technology offered by them in their new gaming device is also capable of reducing the heat dissipation by 20 times. The new Black Shark 2 also comes with up to 256 GB of onboard storage and up to 12 GB of RAM. The company is also claiming a remarkable screen touch response time of around 43.3 milliseconds in this new gaming beast.

Pricing of Black Shark 2

As far as the pricing is concerned, this new mobile gaming beast, Black Shark 2 from Xiaomi comes with a price tag of around CNY 3,199 (roughly INR 32,700) for the entry-level 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant whereas the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 3,499 (around INR 35,800). An another variant 8GB/256GB storage is also available and comes with a price tag of around CNY 3,799 (roughly INR 38,800).

If we talk about the much-hyped top-spec 12GB RAM/256GB storage variant, then the pricing is kept around CNY 4199 (roughly INR 42,900). The phone also comes with two different color options- Shadow Black and Frozen Silver. The first sale for this much-talked gaming device from Xiaomi will begin at 10 pm CST (7.30pm IST, today) in China on the official Black Shark website, TMall, and JD.com.

Key Specifications and Features of Black Shark 2

Living up to the expectations of being a true successor of last year’s Black Shark, this new device from Xiaomi comes with a bucket list of new and powerful gaming technologies. For heat dissipation, Liquid Cool 3.0 is present in the device. That’s not it, there is True View Display to deliver uplifted imaging, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon-based Elite Gaming to provide an apex and never-encountered before gaming experience to the gamers.

Similar to Apple’s 3D touch, Magic Press pressure-sensing technology is also added to the feature list of Black Shark 2, which enables enhanced display control while gaming.

Seeing such hefty features, we can easily argue that by far this is the best gaming device offered in this price bracket and will remain one until something extraordinary device comes in the mobile gaming space.

The new touch algorithm used by Xiaomi in this gaming powerhouse also reduces the screen response time surprisingly to as low as 43.5 milliseconds. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-base noise reduction and stereo audio has also been offered by Xiaomi in the new Black Shark delivering a seamless mobile gaming experience to users. Xiaomi has chosen the X-shaped antenna design layout for this new offering along with dual-frequency GPS.

As far as the mobile display is concerned, the new Black Shark 2 sport a 6.39-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) AMOLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 403 ppi of pixel density. The contrast ratio for this screen was observed to be around 60,000:1 whereas the color gamut was tinkered around 108.9-percent DCI P3.

Moreover, the device is powered with Qualcomm’s 2019 flagship processor Snapdragon 855 SoC and also comes up with Adreno 640 GPU and up to 12GB of RAM.

Talking about camera, dual rear camera setup can be found on the back of new Black Shark 2 with the primary being a 48-megapixel sensor (f/1.75 lens) whereas the secondary being a 12-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 lens. As usual, the secondary camera performs the bokeh or depth effect responsibilities. Well, the interesting thing to note is that the rear cameras also support 2x optical zoom. At the front, the phone has a 20-megapixel shooter, which comes with an f/2.0 lens.

Lastly, the phone comes up with two different storage variants-128GB RAM and 256GB RAM. The connectivity functions include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C port. All the necessary mobile sensors, similar to all other Xiaomi devices are present in this new gaming device. The phone has an accelerometer, ambient light, in-display fingerprint sensor, gyroscope, and magnetometer. Apart from this, the phone has a decent battery capacity of 4000 mAh.
