'Father of Android' Andy Rubin Launched Essential Phone With Modular Accessories

Andy Rubin, the name, which is also known as the ‘Father of Android’, along with his company Essential Products has introduced a new smartphone along with a new intelligent home smart speaker and a 360-degree camera. The new offering by the legendary inventor is blessed with high-end specifications along with ravishing design and will available in four colour variants. The pre-order of the handset has already been started in the US, still, the company hasn’t said any word on when it will go on sale yet.

In term of design, the premium Android smartphone is blessed with an elegant almost edge to edge display, a dual camera setup, and a fingerprint scanner embedded at the rear side. One of the highlighting features of the handset is its edge-to-edge display with only a thin bottom bezel and the flushed dual camera design. It also features two magnetic pins at the back for modular attachments and lacks the availability of any visible logo at any side of it. The volume keys and power button are housed on the right edge of the smartphone and the handset is completely made of titanium and ceramic, which has been claimed to give the highest durability compared to any other smartphone by the company.

The pair of magnetic back pins in the handset are featured to provide a modular accessory system, which will keep your smartphone cord-free, future-proof, and always up-to-date.The pins will work as a click cordless connector and will hook up to company’s two modular accessories launched alongside – the 360-degree camera and its Essential Phone Dock. The Essential Phone lacks 3.5mm audio jack (though it packs a USB Type-C adapter in the box), so people are expecting Rubin and company to introduce more modular accessories to specifically amp up the audio part.

Coming next to the specifications, the Dual-SIM Essential smartphone packs a 5.7-inch edge-to-edge QHD display with a resolution of 1312 x 2560 pixels, 19:10 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by the 64-bit Snapdragon 835 octa-core (2.45GHz Quad + 1.9GHz Quad) processor coupled with Adreno 540 GPU and 4GB RAM. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS and is blessed with 128GB of inbuilt memory space.
