February Android Updates for Nokia 3 and Nokia 8

As per reports, this month HMD Global would release Android security updates for its Nokia 3 and Nokia 8 smartphones. The Nokia 3 updates will be released as per variants. Only Nokia 8 handsets running Android 8.0 Oreo will receive the patch update.The patch update fixes critical security CVE’s in Media Framework.

The Nokia 3 powered by MediaTek MT6737 SoC, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage sports a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display. The phone which was launched in August 2017 also has 8-megapixel front and rear camera. 

The Nokia 8 was also launched at the same time. Underneath the larger QHD IPS display, the smartphone drives power from Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with 4GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. The USP of the smartphone is its 'bothie' feature. The feature enables a user to capture precious moments using both cameras at the same time without lag or delays.

Some important points to note about the patch updates are:

1. The Nokia 3 update is available for selected variants across the globe.

• INDIA - TA-1032 variant

• HUNGARY- TA-1020 variant

• Thailand - TA-1032 variant.

2. The Nokia 8 update is available for its TA-1004 variant in India from February 8.

3. Automatic prompts would alert users about the update. For manual update go to Settings > System Update and follow the automatic instructions.

• The Google security patch file size for Nokia 3 is 79.3MB.

• The monthly Google security patch file size for Nokia 8 is 86.9MB.
