Meizu 16 and 16 Plus Launched in China

Meizu, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has launched two new smartphones, dubbed as Meizu 16 and 16 Plus in its home country China on 8th August 2018. Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus are the successors of Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus that were launched this year in the month of April.

The key highlights of the new gadgets include 18:9 aspect ratio, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, under- display fingerprint scanner that is claimed to have an accuracy rate of 99.12 percent. Additionally, both smartphones have been bundled with mEngine 2.0 technology that is imitated from Apple's Taptic Engine.

To prevent the gadgets from heating, the company has used a custom copper cooling tube in Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus which helps to maintain the body temperature of the smartphone.

Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus Price and Availability

The Meizu 16 , base variant 6GB RAM+64GB storage option has been priced at CNY 2,698 (approximately Rs 27,100). However, the 6GB RAM+128GB storage variant and the higher 8GB RAM+128GB variant are retailing at CNY 2,998 ( approximately Rs 30,100) and CNY 3,298 (approximately Rs 33,100).

On another hand, Mezu 16 Plus have been priced at CNY 3,198 (roughly Rs. 31,400), CNY 3,498 (roughly Rs. 35,100) and CNY 3,998 (roughly Rs. 40,100) for base 6GB RAM 128GB storage, middle 8GB RAM+128GB internal storage and higher 8GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration respectively.

All of the aforementioned variants will be available for pre-orders from 8th August 2018 particularly in the China market. Furthermore, the deliveries of the Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus variants will start from 16th August and 20th August respectively. 

Meizu 16 Specifications

The Meizu 16 comes with 6-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio, pixel density of 402ppi and 430cd/m2 brightness. It runs on top of the line Android 8.0 Oreo layered with Flyme OS. The smartphone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with Adreno 630 GPU.

In terms of storage, the smartphone gets a 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage integrated with UFS 2.1 One must note that the smartphone does not support microSD card.

In terms of photography, the Meizu 16 packs dual 12MP+20MP cameras on the rear panel with an aperture lens of f/1.8 and f/2.6 respectively. The rear camera set up has a four-axis optical image stabilization (OIS) and 6-LED ring flash. For selfies and video calling, the smartphone has 20-megapixel front-facing camera with an aperture of f/2.0.

The front camera comes with Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered features along with Face Unlock Feature. Furthermore, the smartphone is bundled with ArcSoft beauty algorithm skin technology and Face AE facial brightness enhancement. The camera app is preloaded with portrait background blur mode as well as 3x lossless zoom mode.

The Meizu 16 has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C, dual-sim (Nano) as connectivity options. Sensors on the smartphone include the ambient light sensor, electronic compass, gravity sensor, gyroscope, hall magnetic, and pressure sensing. The smartphone comes with the in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Meizu 16 is equipped with linear dual speakers which offer immersive sound in the smartphone. The smartphone is armed with a 3010 mAh battery along with fast charging support shipped with mCharge technology. It weighs 152 grams and measures 150.5 x 73.2 x 7.3 mm.

Meizu 16 Plus Specifications

The Meizu 16 Plus bears a larger 6.5-inch Super full-HD+ AMOLED display which offers the screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio and 374ppi pixels density. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with Adreno 630 GPU.

The smartphone comes with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage coupled with UFS 2.1. Similar to Meizu 16, the Meizu 16 plus also not supports microSD card.

It is worth noting that the Meizu 16 Plus shares camera specs with Meizu 16. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C. It comes with the ambient light sensor, electronic compass, gravity sensor, gyroscope, hall magnetic, and pressure sensing.

The Meizu 16 Plus also has under- display fingerprint scanner which unlocks the smartphone easily. It is powered by a 3640mAh battery bundled with mCharge technology. The dimensions and weight of the smartphone are 160.4x78.2x7.3mm and 182 grams
