Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has expanded its product portfolio by launching two new smartphones, dubbed as, Mi 8 Youth Edition and Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition, particularly in the China market.
The Mi 8 Youth Edition is a step- down version of Mi 8 which was launched in China this year in the month of August.
The Mi 8 Youth Edition comes with a starting price of CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs 15,000) for the base 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant. However, the mid 6GB RAM/64GB internal storage and higher 6GB RAM/128GB have been priced at CNY 1,699 (roughly Rs 18,000) and 1,999 yuan (roughly Rs 21,000) respectively.
The smartphone will be made available in three gradient colour variants. The pre-orders of Youth Edition have started from today itself whereas the deliveries will start from 25 September 2018.
On another hand, the Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition comes with a starting price of CNY 3,199 yuan (Rs 33,800 approx)for base 6GB RAM+128GB internal storage and goes up to CNY 3,599 (roughly Rs. 38,200) for the higher 8GB RAM+ 128GB internal storage variant. The smartphone is scheduled to go on sale from 21st September 2018 and the pre-orders starting today
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition bears a larger 6.26-inch LCD display along with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box layered with MIUI.
Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with 4GB/ 6GB of RAM and 64GB/ 128GB of inbuilt storage.
For photography, the smartphone packs dual 12MP+5MP cameras on the rear panel coupled with AI-powered features and dual phase detection autofocus. Up front, the smartphone has a 24MP Sony IMX576 selfie snapper along with AI-powered features.
It is armed with a 3,350mAh battery bundled with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 Technology which charges the smartphone faster. The Youth Edition comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It supports the Face Unlock feature and dual Nano-SIM card slot. The dimensions of the smartphone are 156.4 x 75.8 x 7.5 mm and weigh 169 grams.
The Fingerprint Edition features a 6.21-inch Samsung AMOLED FHD+ display which offers the screen resolution of 2248 x 1080 pixels, 402 ppi pixel density. Now moving to Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition comes with under display fingerprint scanner rather than the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner which is available in Mi 8 Youth Edition.
Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC along with Adreno 630 GPU for graphics. It comes in two storage variants including 6GB RAM+128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM+ 128GB internal storage.
Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition sports dual 12MP cameras on the rear panel having an aperture lens of f/1.8 and f/2.4 of both sensors. The rear camera setup comes with AI-powered features such as AI scene recognition, AI studio light effect, and more.
For selfies and video calling, the smartphone gets a 20MP front- facing camera along with 3D Beauty, AI Portrait mode. The Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition packs a 3,000mAh battery along with fast charging support. It measures 154.9 x 74.8 x 7.6mm and weighs 177 grams.
