Micromax has uncovered its new Canvas Evok smartphone range. Under the new Evok-series, Micromax has presented the first ever smartphone Canvas Evok priced at Rs. 8,499. The new Android smartphone will be available for purchase only by means of e-commerce website Flipkart.
The company in its official press statement stated that the new Micromax Canvas Evok is designed exclusively for the younger generation.
The Dual-SIM (Micro-SIM cards) Canvas Evok operates on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. In terms of display, it sports a 5.5-inch HD IPS display giving a resolution of 720x1280 pixels with a pixel thickness of 267ppi. It further is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. The GSM-based handset is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 415 processor. It further includes an Adreno 405 GPU, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of built-in storage capacity that is expandable by means of microSD card up to 32GB.
Commenting on the launch, Shubhajit Sen, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax Informatics said, "The current trend of 4G connectivity, big screens, high definition displays and powerful RAM has picked up immensely and the Canvas Evok brings the best combination of all these with its features and design language. We expect the new smartphone to fare well in the market as the millennial generation understands technology and also recognizes the fact that one does not need to pay exorbitant prices for a premium quality smartphone."
In terms of availability of network choices, the device features a 4G LTE network, supporting both Indian brands FDD-LTE Band 3 (1800MHz) and TDD-LTE Band 40 (2300MHz), Micro-USB v2.0 with USB OTG functionality, A-GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Some additional features of the handset include a 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash coupled with a 5-megapixel front fixed-focus camera with LED flash and a 3000mAh battery.
One must recall that the company recently unveiled a number of other Micromax Canvas smartphones too like Canvas XP 4G, Canvas Mega 2 smartphone, and many others. The Canvas XP 4G smartphone is priced at Rs. 7,499, and will be available for purchase from Snapdeal from Tuesday. The highlights of the cell phone at its price point is its 4G LTE availability and 3GB of RAM.
