HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas confirmed in a tweet that Nokia 2 will be updated to Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone also comes up with memory management improvements from Google’s Android Go program, which was launched earlier this year. It was launched in the month of October with Android 7.1 Nougat- out- of the box and comes with an "average global price" of EUR 99 (approximately Rs. 7,600) and it is available for purchase in India from last month at a price of Rs. 6,999.
Sarvikas Twitted, ’“Hi! It will receive Android Oreo. 1GB RAM devices will be supported on 8.1 release where many of the Android Go memory management improvements will be integrated. Nokia 2 performance will only get better over time!”

HMD Global has already started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo in its latest flagship smartphones Nokia 8. The smartphone runs on the stock version of Android 8.0 Oreo, as such no changes in the user interface. Meanwhile, Android 8.0 Oreo beta builds have been announced by the Finnish company for the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. Both the Nokia smartphones upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo beta earlier this month.Nokia 2 is the first smartphone that the company upgraded to Android 8.1 Oreo directly, rather than Android 8.0 Oreo version first.

The highlighting feature of Nokia 2 packs a 4,100mAh non- removable battery and the company claims that it can provide a battery for two days on a single charge. Nokia sport a 5-inch LTPS LCD HD display, along with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor coupled with 1GB RAM.
In terms of optics, Nokia sports an 8MP rear camera featuring an automatic detection and autofocus, 5MP front-facing camera for taking selfies and video calling. It is available in three color options - Pewter Black, Pewter White and Copper Black. Nokia 2 users can upload unlimited photos and videos to Google Photos.
