Nokia, a Finland based Telecommunication Giant has introduced a new silicon chipsets to upgrade its next-generation 5G Network. The company said that the new chipsets will help to reduce the size of antenna, triple data-handling capacity and also reduce the power consumption of mobile towers.
The new silicon chipsets are called “Reef Shark”. The new chipsets are likely to start shipping in the third quarter of 2018 and will become the part of Nokia’s family by adding into the current AirScale family of 4G and 5G-ready network gear, the world’s second-largest manufacturer of mobile network gear said.

Nokia Telecommunication reported that the company is currently working with 30 mobile operators to install the new silicon chipsets in their wireless network towers simply meaning that initially chipset can be updated during this year following which mass market penetration to occur with 5G ready handsets whenever they comes into the market.
According to Nokia’s, Reef Shark chipsets are based on Massive MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) antennas through which we can send and receive tons of data. Sometimes it will offer great wireless network coverage and also network capacity even from a single cell tower. The new chipset will enable to half the size the antennas to be reduced almost 85 percent less energy. The new technology will allow to reduce the size of antenna ranging in size from 1 meters to 6 meters.
