Oppo 'Make in India' Trail begins in Andhra Pradesh

The Chinese handset maker has once again in news with the talks about its manufacturing plant in India. The smartphone maker has sold a huge bundle of sets in India since its creation. The flagship series smartphones got back a great response regarding the handsets and its interface. The battery power furnished within the sets is also adorable. Thus, the company has decided to pull the legs in India range for making the ‘Make in India’ smartphones with this tag on it.

Chinese handset maker has undertaken the trail run for the launch of the smartphones made in India. A top official said that the company is trying its manufacturing of mobile phones at Foxconn's facility in Sri City Special Economic Zone in Andhra Pradesh. The company now has no bars over to sell the smartphone from China. Importing the handset from China to India will now vanish, as the company has its own manufacturing in India.

Oppo Mobiles India Vice-General Manager Kai Feng told reporters that, "We have started production in Foxconn manufacturing unit at Sri City SEZ. Right now, trial runs are going on. We are manufacturing Joy Plus mobile phone". He further said, "Foxconn has set up an assembly line to manufacture smartphones in its facility. We have plans to set up our own factory. We are still discussing it. We have not yet decided."

To a query he answered that the company was mulling setting up its own factory for manufacturing mobile handsets. On the units being sold by the company, he said, "We have sold four lakh mobile phones till date. We expect to sell 1.5 million before March 2016".

With plans for expansion, the Gurgaon-based company, as part of strengthening its network, also plans to open four exclusive showrooms in Tamil Nadu. He said, "Right now, one exclusive showroom is in Tiruchirapalli. We plan to open one more outlet there. We are planning to open two exclusive showrooms in Chennai soon".

The company’s CEO and senior officials are up to the launch of the Oppo smartphone Neo7, priced at Rs 9,990 in India. Along with this, the company is selling 4G enabled smartphones named as Find 7a, Find 7, R5, R7 Lite and R7 Plus in India.
