Pepsi to Introduce Mobile Phones and Accessories in China Soon

The world’s 29th most valuable company PepsiCo Inc has just confirmed the rumors of its new business plan that will be unveiled on October 20th. The food and beverage enterprises revealed, it is working with a licensing partner to market a line of smartphones and accessories in China in the next few months.

The PepsiCo Inc. spokeswoman stated that, "Available in China only, this effort is similar to recent globally licensed Pepsi products which include apparel and accessories." But she did not confirm the licensing partner or give any further details about the phone.

According to the leaks by the Chinese media, the Pepsi was planning to release an Android based smartphone in China named Pepsi P1. The company is intending to release the decent smartphone, but not with a high end specs. As per the Chinese sites, it will be presented in Beijing on October 20.

As per the leaks, the Pepsi’s smartphone P1 is featuring a 5.5-inch 1080p display and is powered by 1.7GHz MT6532 SoC processor. The smartphone has the internal storage of 16GB which is further expandable via microSD card slot expansion and couples a 2GB of RAM.

As per the source, the camera section featuring a slightly better, being a 13 megapixel camera at the rear end and have the 5 megapixel camera at the front panel. The handset will be running on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and is backed by 3000mAH battery. The leaks confirmed, the smartphone will be priced CNY 1,299 (approx. $205).

PepsiCo, the beverage giant, has many licensees across a number of categories. In the previous year, Pepsi tied up with the companies such as Danish luxury stereo and TV maker Bang and Olufsen and Italian shoemaker Del Toro for a range of products for its football campaign.
