After Galaxy Note 9, Samsung Now Launches Galaxy A8 Star and Galaxy J2 Core

Samsung it seems is in a fast and furious mode. However, this could also be the electronic giants move towards market domination in all segment. It has been only two weeks since the Galaxy Note 9 has been released and Samsung has followed it up with two more aggressive launches.

These include Android Go smartphone Galaxy J2 Core and the more premium Galaxy A8 Star. these are specifically targeted at the budget and mid-range segments.

Here’s a look at what the launches have on offer.

Galaxy A8 Star

True to its name, the smartphone comes in premium glass design and also boasts of an Infinity Display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Galaxy A8 Star’s rear gets dual cameras and fingerprint scanner. Premium features include Bixby voice assistant, face unlock and NFC enabled Samsung Pay.

Reportedly, Samsung Pay supports Bill Payments in India. It runs on Android Oreo OS with Samsung Experience UI on top.

It further boasts of tall 6.3-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. Power duties will be performed by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC whose each quadrant cores clock 2.2GHz and 1.8GHz respectively.

The octa-core processor comes coupled with 6GB of RAM, and 64GB onboard storage. Storage is further expandable via microSD card slot.

Samsung Galaxy A8 Star price in India

The smartphone will exclusively go on sale via Amazon India from August 27 onwards. It will carry a price tag of Rs 34,990. There are also attractive EMI options that would be revealed later. Its immediate competitors would include the likes of OnePlus 6, Asus Zenfone 5Z, and Poco F1.

The Optical Eyes

The dual-camera setup at the rear houses primary f/1.7 16-megapixel camera and secondary f/1.7 24-megapixel camera. Selfies, video calling, and face unlock are performed by a 24-megapixel camera. Add-Ons include smart beauty mode, AR Stickers, and pro-lighting support.

Connectivity and Battery

Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB Type-C and dual-SIM card slots. A 3,700mAh battery keeps the Galaxy A8 Star ticking. It supports fast charging albeit a little slower than others.
