



As of Tuesday, many users that are well acquainted with the old look of Uber app icon are in a fix as Uber has officially updated its application logo alongside giving a fresh new look to its rider and partner apps and the website. This new design framework that Uber has introduced has been termed as bit and is done in an attempt to showcase users its maturity and growth.
Commenting on the new look, Travis Kalanick, CEO of Uber wrote, "Have you ever looked at someone's hairstyle and thought "oh my, you peaked in the 1990s?" Well, that's a bit how I feel about Uber's look today." He further adds "The old Uber was black and white, somewhat distant and cold. This belied what Uber actually is -- a transportation network, woven into the fabric of cities and how they move."

The new look celebrates the company's technology, and is customised for the cities it serves ad is now also showcased on the company's official website that displays customized colors and patterns. The patterns have been drawn from various sources like, different architectures, sceneries, fashion etc. Reports suggest that this is just a beginning since there are more to come with authentic identities with respect to each of the 60+ countries it serves.
The companies official blog post illustrates different colours and patterns drawn from locales in China, India, Mexico where especially India's colours are adopted from the Gateway of India, with shades of green, blue, yellow, and ochre.

Alongside this aforementioned update, Uber has also introduced a new logo type, which cuts the curls in the font, to enhance readability. With a larger logistics play in mind, Kalanick writes that Uber moves more than just people, but foods and goods as well, and the new icons for the rider and driver apps are a result of their new design thinking.
