As expected, Vivo announces two flagship smartphones - Nex S and Nex A at an event conducted in China on 12th June. The Vivo Nex S is to considered the premium flagship smartphone and bundled with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 256GB internal storage, 91.24 percent screen-to-body ratio and under- display fingerprint sensor which the company claims it is touted to have 10 percent quicker and 50 percent better accuracy.
On another hand, Nex A is said to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, 91.24 percent screen-to-body ratio and fingerprint reader rather than under- display. It is worth noting that the half-display fingerprint scanning technique is missing in the smartphone that we have seen earlier in Vivo Apex concept smartphone rumored earlier this year. Both Nex S and Nex A have an elevating selfie- camera that pops-out from the top- edge when you will capture the selfies in the smartphone.
The key highlighting feature of Nex S and Nex A is that both of the smartphones feature a Full- Screen Display without notch and bezels. Vivo says, that the smartphone sporting a slighter chin at the bottom of the display.
Both Nex S and Nex A are bundled with a new UI which is termed as Energy User Interface (UI) integrated with the Red color theme. The smartphones also have some impressive features such as emotion-detection, NLU (natural language understanding), ASR (automatic speech recognition),text-to-speech, Jovi AI assistant and among others. Vivo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer company claims that Nex’s camera is equipped with AI-powered features along with HDR, filters mode and brings a DCI-P3 color gamut.
The smartphones have a 7.1-channel 3D audio. Vivo offers Game Engine feature in Nex S and Nex A which have been manufactured in collaboration with Tencent Games. The key highlighting feature in the Vivo Nex S and Nex A is the availability of Screen SoundCasting technology. The company has removed the earpiece from the front panel to offer a full-screen display on both smartphones. The mouthpiece has been positioned in the lower edge.
Vivo Nex A has been priced at CNY 3,898 roughly translates to Rs 41,000 for 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. On another hand, the Vivo Nex S comes with two storage variants 8GB RAM+128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM+256GB internal storage which have been priced at CNY 4,498 (roughly Rs. 52,600) and 4,998 (roughly Rs. 52,600) respectively. Both, Nex S and Nex A will be available in Black and Red color options, however, the top- end 8GB RAM+256GB variant of Vivo Nex S will be available only in Black color option and goes on sale from 23rd June.
The Vivo Nex S bears a 6.59-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display, 19.3:9 aspect ratio, 91.24 percent screen-to-body ratio and a screen resolution of 1080x2316 pixels. It runs on top of the line Android 8.1 Oreo OS skinned with Funtouch OS 4.0 and comes with dual- sim configuration. The premium flagship Nex S is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB/ 256GB inbuilt storage.
In terms of camera department, the Vivo Nex S features dual-rear cameras consisting 12- megapixel primary camera featuring an aperture of f/1.8, 4-axis OIS, and 5-megapixel secondary camera with an aperture of a f/2.4 module. For selfies and video calling, the smartphone sport an 8-megapixel pop-up camera on the front. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone has 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0 port, and OTG support. Under the hood, it packs a 4000mAh battery. The dimensions of Vivo Nex S are 162x77x7.98mm.
The Vivo Nex A shares the similar set of specifications with Vivo Nex S except for Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner instead of in-display fingerprint scanners. It features the same rear, front camera specs, connectivity, battery capacity to Nex S.
