Vivo, being a little bit impatient, unveiled the details and specifications of its V5 Plus and V5 Lite smartphones ahead of its India launch on January 23, 2017. As expected the Vivo V5 Plus is blessed with a front-facing dual-camera setup which is seen as the biggest highlight of the device. The company also has introduced a lower version of V5 named as V5 Lite. The V5 Plus has already been made available for pre-orders by a third-party retailer in Malaysia.
As far as specifications of Vivo V5 Plus are concerned, the Android smartphone features a 5.5-inch full-HD display of resolution 1080X1920 pixels. It is powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The handset runs Funtouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but the company’s main focus seem to be implemented on its camera part.
The Dual-SIM smartphone is blessed with a 16-megapixel rear camera coupled with LED flash. But the main highlight of the smartphone is its front-facing dual-camera (20-megapixel + 8-megapixel sensors) setup, in which the 20-megapixel camera uses Sony's IMX 376 1/2.78-inch sensor with f/2.0 aperture and the 5-megapixel sensor captures depth-of-field information.
The front camera of Vivo V5 Plus is capable of producing ‘Bokeh’ effect, which has only been used by iPhone 7 Plus smartphone. The only difference between these two is V5 Plus is able to produce this effect with its front camera setup instead of rear camera.
Furthermore, the GSM handset packs 64GB of inbuilt memory space, which can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card. Backing up by a 3160 mAh battery with a fast charging support, the device includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS as connectivity options. Along with a fingerprint sensor mounted on the home button of the handset, it will only be available in a Gold colour variant.
Coming next to the Vivo Lite, the handset is blessed with a 5.5-inch HD IPS display of resolution 720X1280 pixels. It is powered by an octa-core 64-bit processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The device runs company’s Funtouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and packs 32GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded further up to 128GB via microSD card.
In terms of optics, it features a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and at the front, it gets a 16-megapixel shooter coupled with a 'Selfie Spotlight' feature, which according to the company is capable of creating lighting effects required for 'picture-perfect' images.
The Vivo V5 Lite is backed up by a 3000mAh battery and includes 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, OTG, FM radio, and GPS as connectivity options. It will be available in Crown Gold and Rose Gold colour variants.
