Vivo Y53i Launched in India: Everything You Need to Know

Vivo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has silently added a new smartphone in its Y- series, dubbed as Vivo Y53i. The Chinese company has not announced the Vivo Y53i officially, however, the Mumbai based retailer Mahesh Telecom has posted some images of the smartphone on Twitter, whereas the retailer revealed the pricing, availability, and specifications of Vivo Y53i. The retailer also stated that the smartphone is available for purchase in India. According to images posted on Twitter suggests that Vivo Y53i is one of the smartphones being offered by the Chinese company recently launched in India.

Vivo Y53i Specifications

The Vivo Y53i is said to feature a 5-inch quad HD IPS display with the screen resolution of 540x960 pixels. The smartphone runs on the two-generations-old Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which is very discouraging, especially when the Android 8.0 Oreo has been trending these days in the smartphone industry. As of now, there is no information when the Android 8.0 Oreo will be rolled out.

It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset, clocked at 1.4GHz quad-core and Adreno 308 GPU. The smartphone is equipped with 2GB of RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage that can be further extended up to 256GB with the help of memory card.

In terms of photography, the Vivo Y53i pack a single 8- megapixel rear camera feature an LED flash and a 5- megapixel front-facing camera for capturing selfies and video calling. The selfie camera comes with face unlock feature. It is fueled by a 2500mAh battery under the hood. The connectivity options on the smartphone are Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, dual- sim card slots and a Micro-USB port.

Vivo Y53i Price and Availability

The Vivo Y53i has been launched at a price of Rs 7,990, with an MRP of Rs 8,990. It is available for purchase via offline retail channel stores, however, there is no information when it will be available on e-commerce platforms. The company is offering the smartphone in Gold color option. At the price point, it seems that the smartphone will compete against the likes of recently launched Xiaomi Note 5, Nokia 2 and so on.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 was launched in India in the month of March at a similar price of Rs 7,999 for the base variant. The Redmi 5 is said to feature a 5.7-inch HD+ screen along with 18:9 aspect ratio, Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC, a larger 3,300mAh battery. The Redmi 5 is one of the good options in an affordable pricing segment and has been liked by the most of the buyers in India.
