Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker has finally launched the much-hyped 'Desh ka Smartphone' named - Redmi 5A. The handset is a budget smartphone with a price tag starting at Rs. 5,999. The biggest highlight of this latest Xiaomi mobile is it's 8 days long lasting battery life. Many of the features included in the device are just the upgrade to the earlier launched Xiaomi Redmi 4A. It has some change with respect to the Chinese version, like - it has a dedicated microSD card slot instead of the hybrid dual-SIM slot. Also, in India, the company has launched a 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant.
As stated above, the starting price of this budget Xiaomi Redmi 5A starts at Rs. 5,999 for the 2GB RAM, 16GB storage variant, and rise up to Rs. 6,999 for the 3GB RAM, 32GB storage option. It must b noted that the company has announced the first 5 million units of the 2GB RAM, 16GB variant will be made available with a discount of Rs. 1,000, hence, bringing down the price to Rs. 4,999. This Xiaomi mobile will be made available via Flipkart and company's official website from 7 at 12 pm. During the sale handset will be available to buy in Dark Grey, Gold, and Rose Gold color options.

On the specification front, Xiaomi Redmi 5A has MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat and has a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display with a pixel density of 296ppi. The handset has been powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC clocked at 1.4GHz, coupled along with 2GB or 3GB of RAM. On the camera front, it comes with a 13-MP rear sensor with a f/2.2 aperture along with LED flash and PDAF. And on the front, it has a 5-megapixel camera with a f/2.0 aperture. The handset has been backed by a 3000mAh battery, with 5V/1A charging.
As stated above, on the storage options included in are either 16GB or 32GB that can be further expanded up to 128GB. The connectivity options included in it are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, Infrared, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Micro-USB port. The top smartphone sensors on board are an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and a proximity sensor.
It has been almost 7 months since the launch of Redmi 5A in the Indian market. It is the most selling affordable smartphone in India and still in the demand which is available for purchase via flash sale starting at 12 PM IST at Flipkart and online store Mi.com. In today’s flash sale, Xiaomi Redmi 5A is available in two storage variants: 2GB of RAM + 16GB onboard storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage. The successor of Redmi 5A dubbed as Redmi 6A that has been launched in the home country, China in June month. As of now it is not confirmed that when the Chinese company would launch the Redmi 6A in India.
