Xiaomi Mi 7 Has Face Unlock Technology And No Fingerprint Sensor

Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to attract the market for being the first Android smartphone to leave the fingerprint sensor behind and adapting facial recognition feature. According to latest reports, Xiaomi Mi 7 can let go the fingerprint sensor in a way to adapt to face unlock technology, like Apple is putting out the Touch ID sensor to make a pathway for Face ID authentication system in the iPhone X.


Just similar to the Apple flagship model, the Mi 7 is coming with 3D face sensing technology to recognize the faces of users to unlock the smartphone. In addition, another report just opposing the previous statement and says that it will have the fingerprint sensor embedded in the display.


The latest Xiaomi Mi 7 may follow Apple’s trail and become the first device adding facial recognition feature rather than foremost fingerprint sensing technology. From another report, it is speculated that the Xiaomi is showing less interest in upcoming in-display fingerprint sensor shows that it may ditch this technology completely. It is also aired that Vivo and Huawei can be next companies to follow the trend in adopting this technology in upcoming products.

Although, the report by GizChina shows that Xiaomi Mi 7 will have an on-screen fingerprint scanner. This also confuses that there is no surety about fingerprint sensor or face detection technology yet and we have to wait till another picture revealing a clear picture of feature bucket. Some other smartphones like the OnePlus 5T, Honor View 10 and OnePlus 5 have already mentioned to occupying facial recognition feature, with an expectation to launch along with the feature in 2018. These smartphones are expected to come with 3D face sensors and fingerprint sensors.


The Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to take a rear dual camera and a 6-inch bezel-less 18:9 OLED display. If this comes with that much modification, it will make a significant difference from the 5.15-inch LCD display owned Mi 6. Furthermore, the smartphone Xiaomi Mi 7 is speculated to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and expected to launch in Q1 2018.
