Xiaomi expected to be Developing Third Android One Smartphone Mi A3

A New report indicates that Xiaomi is likely to be working on its successor to Mi A2 which was sold at Rs. 15,250. The Report claims that the Brand is supposed to be working on Mi A3 and will be launching the product sooner.

As we all know that Mi A1, priced at Rs. 11,099, was the first product from Xiaomi under this programme, enriched with powerful hardware along with stock Android and Xiaomi Mi A2, the successor is the second smartphone which came under the Android One programme.

Xiaomi came with its Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite internationally but only the Mi A2 made it to the Indian Market. The Mi A2 became very popular at the time of its launch since it was the only smartphone that was offering a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC at an attractive price range.

Expectedly, there would be soon, a new addition to Xiaomi's A series. While collecting information about the latest MIUI 10 firmware on the Xiaomi Mi 8, XDA, the member of franztesca ( renowned for his work on the XiaoMiTool) spotted a new device whose code name is “orchid_sprout”.

The XDA Developers also gave confirmation regarding the existence of this device-name by considering the latest MIUI 10 build for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3.

The code-name “orchid_sprout” does give much idea about the upcoming device, but it could be confirmed that the device will be a part of Xiaomi's A series as well as it would be a part of Google's Android One programme.

Evidently, “_sprout” code-name is spotted on almost all devices that are a part of the Android One programme. The Older Xiaomi devices viz. the Mi A1, Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite have “tissot_sprout”,”jasmine_sprout” and “daisy_sprout” code-names respectively.

No information could have been gathered about the display size and whether the new smartphone will sport a notch or not. There is also no info regarding the processor and RAM combination or the capacity of its battery.

The upcoming Xiaomi Mi A3 is expected to support NFC as the firmware files mention a new NFC chip from NXP.If the information is true and “orchid_sprout” is the upcoming Xiaomi Mi A3, then it would be the first smartphone in the of Xiaomi series to sport NFC.

Looking back, it could be expected that Xiaomi would also launch a rebranded variant of this Mi A3 called the Xiaomi Mi 7X. This could be expected as the company has done it in the past as it came up with the Mi A2 and the Mi 6X, as well as the Mi A1 and the Mi 5X.It is required to wait for some more time to see what Xiaomi has in store for 2019.
