As per the reports, it seems that the Redmi S2 as Redmi Y2 likely to be unveiled on 7th June in India. The new smartphone has been spotted on Geekbench website ahead of official launch along with key specifications. To recall, the Chinese company had launched the Redmi S2 on 10th May 2018 particularly in the China market. The company touted the Redmi S2 as best selfie smartphone in S- series in China and it is the first smartphone in Redmi S series being offered by Xiaomi. On another hand, Redmi Y2 is the second smartphone which is to be the successor of Redmi Y1. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has recently launched three smartphones in India including Redmi 5, Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro.
As per the listings of Geekbench, the Redmi S2 is an affordable smartphone with key highlighting features such as Face Unlock and dual rear cameras. As of now, we don’t know information regarding the price of Xiaomi Redmi S2 as Redmi Y2 in India, expected to be unveiled on 7th June in the Indian market. Earlier this month, Xiaomi launched the Redmi S2 in China.

According to the Geekbench Listings that has been appeared on 28th May reveals that the Redmi S2 as Redmi Y2 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. It is powered by an unknown octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, clocked at 2GHz. If we consider the specifications of Redmi S2 it is speculated that Redmi Y2 would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. Alongside specifications, the Geekbench website reveals that Redmi Y2 has scored 843 in single- core test and 4,196 in multi-core test.
The Geekbench website has disclosed the name of upcoming Xiaomi smartphone likely to be dubbed as Redmi Y2. Previously, reports suggested that the Redmi S2 will come with Redmi Y2 in the Indian market. Earlier this month, Xiaomi posted the teaser video on Twitter with the message, “Every step in your life is defined by a selfie. Find yourself, #FindYourSelfie…The BEST selfie smartphone is arriving soon.” Additionally, the teaser highlighted the alphabet "Y" in hashtags #FindYourSelfie and #RealYou pointing towards the arrival of a new smartphone in Y -series.
The Redmi Y2 flaunts a 5.99-inch HD+ display, screen resolution of 720x1440 pixels and comes with a 70.8 percent NTSC color gamut. The smartphone has Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, matted with 4GB of RAM and 32GB/ 64GB internal storage with an option to extend further up to 256GB by using a dedicated memory card.
In terms of optics, the Redmi Y2 features dual rear cameras which include packs a dual 12MP primary camera and 5MP secondary camera. For the selfie snapper, the smartphone gets a 16MP front-facing camera for capturing selfies and video calling, offering AI Portrait Mode, AI Smart Beauty, Front HDR, and Face Unlock. The previously launched Redmi Y1 also has a dedicated memory card slot which provides the users to use two SIM cards.
The price of Redmi Y2 may be around 8,999 according to the previous leaks and still there are rumours around the pricing factor due to the highly volatile market in India for the smartphones.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 packs a 3080 mAh battery. The smartphone has a 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Micro-USB port.
