The app is labeled as Bolt Messaging app which helps you to share your photos and videos with your friends along with texts.

It works in the same order as Snapchat does. Messages will be disappeared automatically after reading. To access the app, user needs to sign up with their mobile number. After sign-in the user can add their friends in contacts to share photos and videos with them. The app is available for the users of Singapore, New Zealand and South Africa. It is expected that it will make entry in other markets later.

The company made this decision because of the huge number of Instagram users in these countries. Company also has plans to test the app for bugs before the worldwide launch. "We decided to start small with Bolt, in just a handful of countries, to make sure we can scale while maintaining a great experience. We expect to roll it out more widely soon," said one of the spokespersons from Instagram.

The Bolt app has been holding some controversy for its naming convention as the name of the app already exists for some other messaging app. Earlier Facebook also had brought its Snapchat like app, Slingshot for photo and video sharing.
