Google Play Added 'Android Excellence' Feature For Apps Following Best Practices

Google, the search engine giant and leading technology firm has now come up with a new section in its Google Play service dubbed as ‘Android Excellence’. This new section has been introduced to promote applications, which are certified by the search giant itself for great design, performance, or following the best practices. The Android Excellence section in the Play Store can be accessed in the revamped Editor's Choice section and provides apps that follow "best practices".

Google has taken this step after the announcement of Apple for revamping its App Store with iOS 11 to place more focus on the manual filtration of applications along with regular updates in the form of developer stories, lists, and much more. Google in its blog post said, “The new collections will showcase apps and games that deliver incredible user experiences on Android, use many of our best practices, and have great design, technical performance, localisation, and device optimisation.”

According to the company, the new Android Excellence section will be refreshed on a quarterly basis. As of now, the first round Android Excellence Games include Pictionary, Riptide GP: Renegade, Toca Blocks and Hitman Go. Apart from that, some names in Android Excellence Apps include Memrise, Pocket, Skyscanner, and Evernote.

According to the aforementioned information, the list will be updated after a considerable time, so, it is likely not to be the best place to find latest games and applications but the entries included in the list will undoubtedly best of its genre. This new transformation is believed to be a great incentive for application developers to follow the new and revamped guidelines provided by Google for Android applications.
