The best mixture of superior specs, style and value: Basis Peak is set to heat up the burgeoning space of smart wearable. Assimilating redesigned apps, improved sensors along with a more comfortable fit, the wrist-worn has been labeled with a price tag of $199. However, device is listed on an online portal: Amazon, but it has been averred to go on sale from November 20.
The newly launched fitness tracker is equipped with a 1.25-inch Gorilla Glass 3 Touchscreen Gesture Recognition, which is capable to display smartwatch-like notifications from paired iOS and Android devices. It has been speculated that the timepiece will be compatible with Android 4.4.2 or higher versions, but we are yet to hear some official words. Comprising a large, high-contrast LCD screen, gadget will be available in two shades: matte black and white.
The wearable is designated as a most automated activity tracker, which can automatically detect when the wearer is walking, running, sleeping, and bicycling as well as there is no need to set it into sleep mode or running mode. Apart from measuring these activities, device has excellent data collection caliber to monitor and record even a tiny bodily movement of user.
Here, it is arrayed with built-in heart rate monitor to keep details of heart rate. Additionally, it also stores the information and notifies about skin temperature readings, perspiration, burned calories and quality of sleep. Importantly, activity tracker is slightly sporty and housed with a waterproof rating of 5ATM, where users can also take it during swimming up to 50 meters of pressure.
However, Basis Peak is little pricey in compare to some lower-priced devices such as Fitbit Charge ($130). Though, gadget shows signs of being a good choice for health-conscious folks, but fitness-focused Microsoft Band might be a big brickbat for Basis's new invention.
