What’s Good
Bajaj Auto bring into a new variant the Platina 110 CBS. As the name suggests, it gets a larger 110cc engine borrowed from the Discover and a safety feature of Combi Braking System (CBS) to adhere the upcoming safety regulations from April 2019. Other than this, the motorcycle gets changed slightly at the skin thanks to new colour schemes and graphics job. Some other factors which will help the bike maker in generating volume:
- New Graphics
- Combi-Braking System (CBS)
- Larger 110cc Motor
- Nifty Little Child Footrest
Power and mileage
The powertrain is the most significant alteration on this new Platina 110 CBS variant. It gets a 115cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine borrowed from the Discover. The engine is rated to develop improved power figures including 8.7PS and 9.81Nm over the 100cc version which makes out 7.9PS and 8.34Nm respectively. The engine continues to marry with a 4-speed gearbox transmission.
- 115cc Engine Displacement
- Single-Cylinder, Air-Cooled Unit
- Max Power: 8.7PS
- Peak Torque: 9.81Nm
- Four Speed Gearbox
- 11-litre Fuel Tank
Riding and handling
Other than the mechanicals, the Platina 110 CBS go under the knife and got updated with new improved dimensions: 2006mm in length and 1076mm in height, longer by 3mm and 7mm taller respectively. However, with the underpinnings such as conventional telescopic forks up front and Bajaj’s patented twin S&S rear shocks, the motorcycle would not only be easy to handle but also offer a comfortable ride on the go. Also, with the inclusion of CBS safety net, the bike would be easy to handle while panic braking.
Safety
The Platina 110 CBS is an advanced variant of the model. Not only at powertrain but also at safety front. Being offered with drum brakes at both wheels, the motorcycle receives an improved safety of CBS to end up the risk of skid while harsh braking.
Verdict
The Platina 110 CBS is priced at INR 49,300. In its segment, it sees competition with the likes of Hero Splendor Plus and the TVS Sport Electric Start Alloy with price tag INR 50,060 and INR 46,919 respectively. With the improved powertrain and the advanced safety of CBS, the Platina 110 CBS could easily undercut these opponents, thanks to the new colour scheme and graphics job.
