SAGMart Reviews on BMW K 1600 B
What’s Good:
The BMW K 1600 B is one of the few full-sized tourers available in the Indian biking industry. It is based on concept 101 bagger and shares underpinnings with the K 1600 GT. Here in India, it had launched at India Bike Week 2017 at the price sticker of INR 29 lakh (ex-showroom). As compared to the K 1600 GT, the new BMW K 1600 B is more relaxed with revised design language. It gets an electronically adjusted shorter windscreen, updated fairing with pushed back wind deflectors on new side decals. The panniers are now spacious with increased storage space of 37 litres. Other major highlights include
- 5.7-inch Colour TFT Display
- Duolever and Paralever (Brand’s Patented) suspension
- Dual 320mm Floating Disc Upfront
- 320mm Single Rear Disc
- Riding Modes: Road and Cruise
- ABS Pro
- Dynamic Brake light
- Dynamic Traction Control
- Cruise Control
Power and Mileage:
Powering on the BMW K 1600 B comes from the 1649 cc in-line six-cylinder engine behind the massive front fairing. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox transmission that spawns out the maximum power of 160 bhp at 7750 rpm along with 175 Nm of peak torque at 5250 rpm. This touring beast comes loaded with a massive fuel tank of capacity 26.5 litres and can attain the top speed over 200kmph. The fuel efficiency for a motorcycle with such a powerful engine stands at an average of 15 kmpl
- Engine Displacement: 1649cc

- Peak Torque: 175 Nm at 5250 rpm
- Gearbox: 6-Speed Unit

Handling and Riding:
It is one of the most advanced tourers available in the Indian two-wheelers market and purely meant for a comfortable touring on long journeys. It is based on an electronically adjusted Dynamic ESA chassis and comes with riding modes such as Road and Cruise which tunes engine as per the requirement of the rider. Other than this, the attributes which take cares of a comfortable and convenient ride includes
- Cruise Control
- Dynamic Traction Control
- Multi-Controller
- Seat Heating
- Heated Grips
- ABS Pro
- Xenon Headlamp
Safety:
It’s full-sized, heavier, and comes packed with a massive power plant which develops whopping power churn out. Taking care of the rider and its pillion companion has always been a significant concerned for any automaker and its an offering from the German bike maker BMW Motorrad which is globally acknowledged for its state of the art models packed with futuristic attributes which ensure the life safety of both. These features include
- 320mm Dual Floating Disc Brakes
- 294mm Single Disc Brakes

Verdict:
The BMW K 1600 B in my perspective is an effort to create a blend of bagger and sports tourers. It's an awesome bike which certifies the qualities of a bagger as against to a sports tourer. However, its possession in itself is a proud feeling for anyone because of its pocket burning price tag of INR 29 lakhs (ex-showroom).
