2016 Toyota Innova Likely to be Premiered at Jakarta Auto Show

Recently, we informed you that the next generation Toyota Innova is reportedly going to be offered with LED headlights and chilled glovebox. And now, another report has popped up which suggests that this MUV will be premiered on 23rd November at 2015 Jakarta Auto Show. In Indian market, it is slated to launch by early next year. Cosmetically, there will be some changes in the features, while mechanically, a new configuration could be introduced as opposed to the ongoing Innova. Once launched, this car will compete with the likes of Maruti Ertiga and Honda Mobilio.

This next gen offering will be based on an all new IMV platform, thereby imparting a lighter, stiffer and safer body to this car. The exterior features include revamped front and rear bumpers, dual slat grille flanked by sweptback headlamps highlighting double barrel projectors, integrated LED DRLs, wide air dam, new tail lamp cluster, pronounced wheel arches and chrome highlighted number plate. Inside, there will be new upholstery, multi- functional steering wheel, re-designed dashboard and centre console, automatic climate control, new instrument cluster, etc.

The latest version of this model will be fitted with a 2.4 litre GD engine developing 160Bhp and 400Nm of maximum output. Another powertrain option is a 2.8 litre GD unit propelling 177Bhp and 450Nm of peak torque. Transmission will be taken care of via a 6-speed manual gearbox as well as an automatic facility. The engine will also utilise technologies like VGT(variable geometric turbocharger) and ESTEC (economy with superior thermal efficient combustion), under the hood.
