2017 Honda Civic Hatchback: Images Released Officially Before Paris Debut

The all new 2017 Honda Civic has been officially unwrapped in the first set of images just before its world premiere at 2016 Paris Motor Show in this month. Along with the images, Honda has also released the details of this tenth generation Civic hatchback for the European market.
In the European market, this five-door hot-hatch will be followed by a Civic Tourer estate and Type R hatchback version. However, the sedan and three-door version which are especially designed for the US market, are not on the papers for some of the European markets.

This Euro-spec new Civic will be produced at company’s global production hub at Swindon in the UK. Based on the entirely new body frame assembly, Honda claims that the new Civic has 52 percent more torsional stiffness while being lighter 16kg in weight than its predecessor.

On dimension, the car has now become longer, wider and shorter by 130 mm, 30 mm and 20 mm respectively, with the 30 mm longer wheelbase. It measures 4,497 in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,421 in height, with the wheelbase of 2,700 mm.

Under the hood, Civic will be offered in two new turbocharged petrol engines, - a 129 hp 1.0-litre and a 182 hp 1.5-litre 4-cylinder. Both the engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual or a CVT auto transmission. While the regular 120 hp 1.6-litre diesel engine will also be available, but in a higher state of tune in order to increase power output and decrease emission. No hybrid option as of now. Though according to a report of autocar.co.uk , Honda has officially confirmed that this new platform can allow such a powertrain, but pure electric is not possible with it.

Moving on interiors, the Civic is now more spacious with the increased leg-room for the rear occupants, thanks to the extended wheelbase. Boot-space remains unchanged with the class-leading 478-liters. Instead of Honda’s ‘Magic Seats’, it gets traditional 60:40 split for the rear seat.

Cabin has been aimed at a sober and sleek design, featuring a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display with the Apple CarPlay and Android connectivity. Other optional things on the list are German satellite navigation with free map updates for five years, high quality audio speakers with various options.

About the India Launch of this tenth-generation Civic, Honda is currently evaluating the Indian market and can launch it in the upcoming years.
