2017 Hyundai Verna Emerges; All You Need to Know

The all-new 2017 Hyundai Verna has been introduced in the brand’s Indian lineup at an introductory price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company claims that the car is more safe, luxurious and powerful than its competitors in the executive car segment. As per the company, the first 20,000 customers will avail the launched pricing across the country. Later, the price of the car will be revised with a premium amount.

According to the South Korean manufacturer, they are eyeing at the monthly sales of 4,500 units along with the delivery of 10,000 units before Diwali.

The new Hyundai Verna shares its design language with its older sibling-the Hyundai Elantra. The model was launched in the country last year. Based on the K2 Platform, the 2017 Verna features projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights at its front fascia.

In terms of what is under the hood, the new Verna comes loaded with two kinds of engine options. A 1.6-litre U2 CRDi VGT diesel engine is said to develop the peak power of 128PS. Whereas, the 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol engine spits out 123bhp peak twisting force. The transmission duties depend on the variants, they will either be handled by a 6-speed manual or by a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Moving inside the cabin, you will find the fitment of a chunky three-spoke steering wheel with multifunction buttons, simple instrument cluster with two large analogue dials and a very informative digital DIS, under the Hyundai's understated elegance design. The centre console gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, placed near the two central A/C vents. The leather upholstery is a part of top end variants. In terms of comfort, the new Verna is designed to pamper the front occupants, the seated on the rear will not feel comfortable.

Other than this, the standard features across all the variants comprise of dual front airbags, ABS, day-night IRVM, ISOFIX child-seat anchor points, front seatbelts with pre-tensioner, rear centre armrest with cupholders, tilt-adjustable steering and electrically adjustable ORVMs.

The top end variants of the car have gained a host of premium features which include a 6-speaker surround sound system, Hyundai iBlue app-based remote control, sunroof, keyless entry-and-go, six airbags and rear windshield curtain.

With the new Hyundai Verna, you will also get a connected car service, that is known as the Auto Link. The feature allows the customers to check the car's health, analyze driving habits, contact roadside assistance on their phone.
