Audi Q6 h-tron Concept to be Displayed at Detroit Motor Show

Audi is reportedly going to display the Q6 h-tron concept at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show to be held in January, 2016. This is the hydrogen fuel cell powered version of the e-tron quattro concept and both the models are going to share most of the cosmetic elements. The major change will be made to the powertrain, while the exterior will remain same as before. This upcoming car will be a more performance oriented vehicle than the existing one.

Talking about the mechanical configuration, the e-tron quattro is fitted with 3 electric motors that are tuned to generate 429Bhp of combined power. It also claims to offer a zero emission driving range of about 500 km. Moving on to the h-tron, the hydrogen cells will replace the batteries that are fitted in the e-tron. Further, the MLB platform will be shared between the two Audi offerings.

Anticipations suggest that the h-tron production version will soon be rolled out in the Q6 range accompanying other traditionally configured engine variants. Lately, the automakers have become keen on developing electrical vehicles with power packed motors and the same goes with Audi. The hydrogen fuel cell is a reliable of power as it can be easily created by cracking water into hydrogen and oxygen cells with the help of wind turbines.

The popularity of electric motors is rising constantly with the advancement in technology. Tesla is also coming up with its Model X in 2018 and it is likley to be the major rival for h-tron. Other rival models include the likes of Toyota Mirai and Honda FCV Clarity.
