Bentley Continental and Porsche Panamera Planning to Look Alike

Two subsidiaries of the Volkswagen automotive group, namely Bentley and Porsche are now planning to collaborate with each other to develop their vehicles. The first step is taken by the Bentley as the facelift of its famous Continental sports car will be sharing the design platform with Porsche's next generation Panamera. The step has been taken to make sure that both the cars soar up on the sales chart and hence helping Volkswagen AG to become the world's leading car selling group behind Toyota. Though, Volkswagen recently left the General Motors behind to get to the 2nd position in terms of world-wide car sales.

This collaboration will mainly focus on the weight-shedding of the Bentley Continental which is based on the decade old Volkswagen Phaeton architecture. While the next generation Porsche Panamera is based on the MSB platform which significantly lowers the weight of the car and Bentley is looking forward to get that. Apart from this, the two will be sharing the drive platform as well, which will enable Continental to drive on front wheels with the help of its quill shaft mechanism system and would mount the engine a bit rear.

There also are the possibilities that the latest next-generation turbocharged V8 petrol engine from Panamera would also get burrowed by Bentley Continental. However, the things are pretty much on the paper for now, but we can surely bank upon these details for the near future.
