BMW G310R, G310GS Garners Over 1,640 units Sales in India in 2018

2018, the year when the German bike maker, BMW Motorrad officially entered the Indian market. By the end of the year, the company sold a total of 2,187 motorcycles. Appreciative figures for any premium motorcycle manufacturer within the first year of operations.

As per the BMW Motorrad India, out of the 2,187 motorcycles, a huge share 75 per cent (more than 1,640 units) were contributed by the newly launched G310 twins- the G310R and the BMW G310GS. Dispatched figures are pretty impressive for the entry-level BMW motorcycles launched only in July last year. However, the pricing of these motorcycles remained a matter of discussion among aficionados. As the bikes are manufactured by TVS in India. The prices of G310R and G310S are more accessible in the USA besides being landed as a CBU unit. BMW never explained why the bikes priced high in India.

By the year-end, the company started bestowing a huge discount of up to INR 70,000 on both the bikes which results in a further boost in bikes sales in India.

Both the G310R and G310GS are bolted with an identical 313cc single cylinder engine, the unit which also powers the TVS Apache 310. The mill is rated to develop the maximum power of 34 hp and 28 Nm via a mated six-speed gearbox. With the powertrain, these BMW bikes can complete a spirit of 0-60 kmph in just 2.5 seconds and can attain the top speed of 143 kph. Here in India, the BMW G310R has priced at INR 2.99 lakhs while to own the G310GS one has to shell out an amount of INR 3.69 lakhs. Both the prices are applicable at authorised Delhi dealerships.
